MYLES MANCUSO
Myles
Mancuso is a gifted 13 year old performer / multi-instrumentalist - he has been
fronting his own band on stages in the New York City and Tri State area since he
was 9 years old. He's billed as: "New York City's Youngest Working
Bandleader/Guitarist". His back up band consists of professional musicians 4 and
5 times his age. Myles has performed on some of New York's top stages; BB Kings,
The Cutting Room, The Red Lion, Tera Blues, The Iridium Jazz Club, South Street
Seaport, Madison Square Garden (Knicks half time show) and others.
He's appeared live as a special guest performer with Les Paul (Guitar Legend),
Levon Helm (recent Grammy Winner and Drummer/Vocalist of The Band), Jimmy Vivino
(Conan O'Brien Show), Kate Taylor (Sister of James Taylor), Tab Benoit (Blues
Award winning New Orleans Guitarist), Bill Perry (Telarc Records) and many
others. "Mojo Myles" was a nickname given to him in early newspaper articles
referring to his abilities and stage presesance. He has performed live on Radio
and TV through-out the NY Tri-state area; WDST (Woodstock NY), I95 (CT), WOR
(NYC) are some of the stations he's appeared on.
Sid Bernstein (best known as the promoter who brought the Beatles to America)
has promoted Myles at numerous shows in New York City. When Sid Bernstein was
asked in an interview about Myles Mancuso he stated: "I love this kid…I think he
is going to be a Big Star!" For a recent newspaper article Sid was asked about
Myles' abilities and replied "Myles Mancuso is Bona fide Prodigy that will
Captivate and Thrill an audience".
As a multi-instrumentalist he is not only a guitar prodigy - Myles' abilities to
play piano and organ are well respected also… Another current project has Myles
being featured playing Hammond Organ with The Slam Allen Band. Slam is the
Guitarist/Musical Director/Lead Singer for Blues Legend James Cotton. Although
in his seventies - James Cotton still plays at the best venues in the world and
puts on an electrifying show, with help from Slam Allen… When Slam Allen is not
touring the world with The James Cotton Band he does his own show using Myles to
accompany him on keyboards. Slam has said of Myles' keyboard stylings… "That
Boy's Got Chops, He Knows the Blues".
When Myles was 9 & 10 he appeared as a special guest with Levon Helm for a
series of "Blues in the Schools" performances. Many school aged youth got a
chance to see Little Sammy Davis (Vocals/Harp) and Levon Helm (Drums)
demonstrate authentic blues songs in a classroom setting. Myles' performances
with the group helped to inspired and amaze the students. Myles enjoys
performing for youth his own age; he feels they don't have enough opportunity to
hear the traditional American music that has inspired so many of the top
performers of our time.
In 2007 (at 11 years old) a video taped performance of an original song was
licensed to the Nickelodeon Show ("I CARLY")… the video showed Myles playing 4
instruments on one song. The home video of Myles playing four instruments on one
song was loaded on "Yahoo Video" - the staff at the search engine discovered it
and featured it on the front page of Yahoo.com - in the first day it was
featured it received 300,000 views. The video was seen by the producer at the
new nationally syndicated Sally Jessy Raphael show (former long time television
talk show host) and Myles was interviewed live and his music was played on air.
In that interview he spoke about how he realized he had natural ability at the
age of 8 years old when he won a National Award for an original song he wrote
and recorded all the instruments on.
Currently, the Mojo Myles band has Myles on Lead Vocals, he also plays Guitar &
Keyboards (and may even play some Sax) in his live performances. In a recent
newspaper interview Myles said "I like to play music because I like to see
people happy" and that is exactly the response his performances evoke; smiles of
amazement…. Myles creates a style that has been referred to as "Rockin' Rhythm &
Soul", playing an eclectic mix of material and styles - applying his own unique
flavor which brings a fresh life to a traditionally American sound
All ages and any musical preference can enjoy Myles'show. Upcoming performances
will provide audiences with a unique live entertainment option; his shows have
been called "Inspirational, Educational and Emphatically Entertaining". His
delivery & natural stage savvy along with his original interpretations of
traditional music leave a strong impression on young and old alike.
